Join Ken and Akiko Freeman, owners of Freeman Vineyard & Winery in western Sonoma County, for a delectable Japanese culinary experience for your party of 10 guests.
The experience will begin with a tour and vertical tasting in the cave featuring Freeman’s highly rated Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast appellations – expertly crafted by Akiko, Freeman’s talented winemaker. Known for their elegance and restraint, Freeman wines are served at leading restaurants around the world, and were featured at President Obama’s last state dinner at the White House.
After this exclusive tour and tasting, you’ll walk up through the estate’s magnificent grove of redwood trees for a delicious cooking demo followed by an intimate lunch prepared by Yoshi Sogi, the former chef at Go Fish in the Napa Valley. Chef Sogi has over 38 years of experience with training in both Japan and France, culinary experience at Michelin rated and award winning restaurants around the globe, culminating with opening his own catering business featuring exclusive Japanese culinary experiences.
Your specially crafted five course menu will feature Chef Sogi’s amazing Japanese culinary skills and locally sourced ingredients, with each dish skillfully paired with a different Freeman wine, crafted by Winemaker Akiko Freeman. A native to Tokyo, Akiko attributes her love of wine to her grandfather, whose influence imbued her with a lifelong passion for the enigmatic beauty of great Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. She has worked alongside Ken to realize their longtime dream of establishing a small, family-run winery dedicated to crafting expressive, cool-climate Sonoma County Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Today Akiko’s gifted palate guides every Freeman wine, every vintage – and this incredible Japanese culinary experience!
